Monday, October 31, 6:00 pm– “Identifying German Origins of American Immigrants” – Presented by Dr. Mike Lacopo. If all you know from conventional records is “Germany” as a place of origin, then this lecture will help you mine other resources to locate WHERE in Germany your ancestor came from. Our Annual Dinner Program will include a German Theme meal! Cost of Reservations required.
Monday, November 28, 7:00 pm– “History of the Mishawaka Churches” – Presented by Ed Chamberlain. Learn about the history of the congregations, archives available and records to be found. For many years churches were the heart of the community. Mr. Chamberlain’s presentation will offer an interesting insight into local life in many aspects. Local churches sometimes contain surprises as well! Join us at 6:30pm for coffee and conversation prior to the program at 7:00pm.
Monday, January 30, 7:00 pm– “Stalled and Out of Gas: How to put a Spark back into Your Research” – Presented by Deanna Juday. Monday, February 27, 7:00pm – “Archaeology of Cemeteries, Symbolism and Dating of Old Tombstones” – Presented by Dr. Bill Mangold. The archaeology of a cemetery gives us clues to fixed points in time and allow us to visually determine where our Ancestors final resting place may be found when no map is available. Tombstone symbolism can also give us a glimpse into their lives and the organizations they belonged to. Join us at 6:30pm for coffee and conversation prior to the program at 7:00pm.
